Easy, Safe & Convenient Transportation to Camp

Is transportation available from my location?

Camp Deer Creek provides bus transportation throughout many Pittsburgh areas, including (but not limited to) Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, Edgewood, North Side, Swissvale, Point Breeze, Oakland, Shadyside, Highland Park, Fox Chapel, O’Hara, North Hills, Avonworth, Tarentum/Harwick, South Hills, Monroeville, Oakmont, Wexford, and Cranberry.

How far will my pick-up and drop-off location be from my home?

On most routes, the pick-up and drop-off locations will be a short drive from the address on your enrollment form. Some routes are within walking distance. It all depends on where you live! Please contact the camp office with any questions regarding pick-up and drop-off locations. Please note that specific locations are often not finalized until shortly before camp begins.

Do I have to use Camp Deer Creek’s transportation?

Families have the option of dropping off and picking up campers directly at camp. Drop-off and pick-up are designed to be safe, easy, and convenient – no need to get out of your car!

Drop-off time: Between 8:30 am and 9:15 am

Pick-up time: Between 3:40 pm and 3:50 pm

When you arrive, look for our designated drop-off zone, where a staff member will assist you. You’ll be asked to sign your camper in or out for the day—all from your car! Due to heavy bus traffic, please avoid picking up campers between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm

When will we know transportation details?

Most pickups occur between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, with returns between 3:45 pm and 4:45 pm. Pick-up and drop-off assignments will be shared with families before the first day of camp. Your child’s bus counselor will notify you of the exact timing the weekend before camp begins. If you haven’t been contacted by 4:00 pm on the Sunday before your camper’s start date, please contact us at 412.767.5351 or email campdeercreekonline@gmail.com.

What happens if I’m late to pick up my camper from the bus stop?

If an authorized adult is not at the bus stop, your camper will remain on the bus and proceed to additional stops on the route. Parents or authorized adults will need to pick up their camper at one of these later stops. Campers cannot be left unattended at the bus stop.

Bus Expectations

To ensure a safe ride, only Camp Deer Creek campers and staff are allowed on the bus. A CDC staff member is present on each bus to help with safety and communicate any transportation details to parents. All campers are expected to adhere to strict behavior guidelines.

Rider Expectations:

All Camp Deer Creek campers must demonstrate responsible behavior on the bus. If a camper struggles to follow behavior guidelines, the following steps will be taken:

1. The camper will meet with the bus counselor and camp director.

2. Depending on the situation, parents/guardians may be contacted.

Our goal is to prevent any further issues. However, if poor behavior continues, the camper will no longer be permitted to ride the bus. Please note that no refund will be given if a camper cannot attend camp due to loss of bus privileges.

Campers who engage in fighting, damage property, or create unsafe conditions on the bus will not be permitted to ride. Additionally, inappropriate language, touching, or failing to remain seated while the bus is moving will NOT be tolerated.
